Each region in Thailand has the potential to serve as a production base for exports, and the Regional Export Promotion Center plays a key role in developing the competitiveness of the local manufacturers realizing this potential. The center works in close cooperation with the Foreign Trade Promotion network, channeling information on markets and products to the producers, and providing linkage to overseas buyers. Additionally the center provides suggestions on market potential for the "One Tambon, One Product" project. The Regional Export Promotion Centers are located in five
provinces: the northern center is in Chiang Mai, the northeastern center
in Khon Kaen, the eastern center in Chanthaburi, and the southern centers
in Surat Thani and Hat Yai. |

The DEP operates 53 foreign trade promotion offices in 38 target countries to foster market expansion and build Thailand's brand image to be widely recognized and accepted worldwide. The offices also serve in arranging business negotiations between exporters and buyers, and in coordinating with the public and private sectors to form trade missions and organize exhibitions, trade fairs and other marketing activities such as in-store promotions. Another prime mission for the network is to continually update information concerning economy and trade, for example market movements, sales strategies, distribution channels, product development, competition, and changes in regulations that could affect Thailand's exports. Other important roles of the Office of Foreign Trade Promotion include
exploring more efficient sources of raw materials, advising on developments
to reduce manufacturing costs, and helping to find new overseas business
partners for Thai producers.
