TIEE 2011 Set To Be ASEAN’s Biggest Education Expo
Mrs. Nuntawan Sakuntanaga, Director-General of the Department of Export Promotion (DEP), together with distinguished guest speakers from the private sector, have underlined Thailand’s leading position as ASEAN’s hub of learning, inviting international learning institutes from Thailand and overseas to participate in the upcoming Thailand International Education Expo 2011 (TIEE 2011). Education-related businesses and service providers are also urged to join the event, which will take place during November 4-6, 2011, at Royal Paragon Hall, Siam Paragon.
Mrs. Nuntawan was speaking during a discussion on “International Education in Thailand: Potential, Opportunities and Options in the AEC Landscapes” at the TIEE 2011 fair launch, which was held today (Wednesday, August 3, 2011) at the DEP’s Conference Room 1, Ratchadapisek Road.
The DEP Director-General revealed that the prestigious event will further strengthen confidence among students, parents and education providers worldwide by showcasing Thailand's potential and strengths in the international education industry. These positive elements are now recognized across the globe and have encouraged education institutes and the wider industry to develop innovative curricula, learning tools and other products, while strengthening the network among education institutes worldwide.
Mrs. Nuntawan also extended an invitation to education agents, representatives of international institutes and interested parties from the ASEAN region, China, Japan, Korea, the Middle East and the European Union to be part of this important event.
Joining the DEP Director-General in a discussion to emphasize the manifold benefits and opportunities for all participants was a panel of guest speakers, namely, Mrs. Usa Somboon, President of the International Schools Association of Thailand (ISAT); Dr. Viphandh Roengpithya, President and Founder of Asian University; and Capt. Chalermvut Thansuvan, Principal of Barter International Maritime Studies (BIMS).
With this year’s concept being “Live + Learn … The Choice is Infinite”,
TIEE 2011 will reaffirm Thailand’s leadership position as Southeast Asia’s learning hub and will again stress the numerous benefits of studying in Thailand, namely international standard curricula, a desirable location in the heart of the region, ease of transportation, the attractive cost of living and studying in the Kingdom, a sound infrastructure and Thailand’s renowned hospitality.
According to Mrs. Nuntawan, there are currently more than 100,000 students (approximately 70,000 Thais and 30,000 foreign students) enrolled in international programs in Thailand. The education industry plays a vital role in generating approximately 20,000-30,000 million baht in annual revenue from foreign students while saving the country at least 70,000 million baht that would otherwise have been spent in study overseas.
The upcoming expo will cover the entire spectrum of international education and related services, and will include insightful seminars, workshops and in-depth exhibitions. Over 20,000 serious visitors are expected to explore the extensive study options – including 1,000 curricula available at over 450 international education institutes throughout Bangkok and the provinces – as well as the wide range of related services and products geared towards making learning an exhilarating experience.
Interested parties keen to be part of this important annual event have until August 15, 2011, to submit their applications.
